Just finished putting in the first rows. Sometimes it is better to do the work with your own two hands.
Doing the work manually takes serious dedication to treating my body right. I can build the speed I desire by consistently practicing a steady patient rhythm. I do not want to end up suffering injuries or mental exhaustion. I want to gain a certain perspective you don’t get when you mechanize everything on the farm. Also, I want connect with the people that paved the way so that I can really appreciate these modern conveniences.
I can afford to do some of the work like this because of good business/farm planning and lots of off season exercise to prepare my body. Also, I will not be tilling after the site is prepared. I will double dig and deeply amend the beds with high quality mushroom compost. I realize, as much as I love playing in the dirt, there is a business being developed!
